Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a very common anxiety disorder that is characterised by the presence of obsessions and compulsions that are felt to be unreasonable and that impair daily functioning. OCD can be very distressing – it may be accompanied by depression and may also negatively impact relationships.
What is Counselling for OCD?
Counselling treatment for a OCD involves working through a therapy program to control the Obsessions and associated Rituals. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) has been shown to be effective in controlling OCD.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder counselling with me is designed around your particular issues and goals. I will help you to understand and gain control of your obsessions and/or rituals. Some examples of OCD that I have worked with include checking, washing, counting, mental rituals, repeated acts, hoarding, and unwanted intrusive thoughts/images.
